The European Society of Radiology (ESR) and imaging professionals from around the world are celebrating the 11th International Day of Radiology (IDoR).
The aim of the yearly observance is to build "greater awareness of the value that radiology contributes to safe patient care and improving public understanding of the vital role radiologists and radiographers play in the healthcare continuum," the society said.
Radiology plays a critical role in patient care, according to the ESR.
"[On this day we] ... acknowledge the critical role that radiology plays to help ensure earlier detection, fewer surgeries, and improved treatment outcomes for patients," it said.
