Radiation oncology firm Varian Medical Systems has signed an agreement to form a strategic partnership with cancer care treatment provider GenesisCare to expand access to advanced cancer care in the U.K., Spain, and Australia.
The deal begins with Varian becoming Genesis' preferred provider for coverage of 70 Varian linear accelerators and Varian Eclipse treatment planning software. It also will include support of skin cancer clinical trials utilizing Varian RapidArc technology and the development of software for the emerging field of theranostics.
GenesisCare already has placed an order for 10 linear accelerators for Australia. Installation of the first Varian Halycon, TrueBeam, and Edge systems, as well as Eclipse treatment planning software, is scheduled to begin in November.
