Sony Europe has acquired eSaturnus, a Belgian provider of video over internet protocol (IP) technology for operating rooms.
Sony said it believes the deal will support its vision of providing new services and clinical image workflow offerings for hospitals. The company's software enables processing, control, and distribution of multiple image sources combined with medical information, Sony said.
Sony said it intends to expand the business first in Europe. Additional international deployment is expected to follow in the future, according to the firm.
The combined company also plans to further develop clinical video over IP packages for both inside and outside of operating rooms, Sony said.
