U.K. PACS provider Insignia Medical Systems successfully deployed its integrated Enterprise Imaging PACS service at Oxford University Hospitals (OUH) National Health Service (NHS) Foundation Trust.
The contract was previously announced in April.
Oxford University Hospitals consists of four hospitals, three in Oxford and one in the north of the county. The trust performs more than 500,000 radiology examinations per year.
The migration of more than 100 TB of historical data is one of the largest ever undertaken in the U.K., according to Insignia, and took place in just four months using the Insignia Migration Service.
As part of the deployment, Insignia merged breast screening into the main PACS, allowing the sites to be able to view symptomatic and screening imaging in the same application for the first time. Other departments are already planning to transfer their services into Insignia's Enterprise Imaging system.
The next step for OUH is to enable the sharing service between themselves and their neighboring trusts using the Insignia Sharing Solution, which will allow them to immediately and automatically view the entire regional patient radiology image record.
