U.K. hospitals complete Varian order

National Health Service (NHS) hospitals in Dorset and London have purchased two TrueBeam linear accelerators from radiation therapy firm Varian Medical Systems.

The purchases, made by North Middlesex University Hospital and Poole Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, complete an acquisition initiative by the NHS Supply Chain to fund the purchase of up to 10 replacement modalities for aging radiotherapy treatment systems in public hospitals.

The other hospitals participating in the NHS Supply Chain initiative that ordered Varian radiotherapy treatment equipment were located in Guildford, Hereford, Hull, Liverpool, Newcastle, and Sheffield.
