Radiation oncology firm Elekta has announced the Centro Nazionale di Adroterapia Oncologica (CNAO Foundation) in Pavia, Italy, is the first center to use its Mosaiq oncology information system to guide a cancer patient's carbon ion therapy.
CNAO is now nearing completion of its National Center of Oncological Hadrontherapy, which will be running double shifts after an initial start-up phase, Elekta said. Each month, 150 to 200 patients are expected to receive proton therapy and carbon ion therapy, according to the vendor.
