GE Healthcare has completed the first global installation of its Discovery IGS 730 mobile interventional imaging system for hybrid operating rooms and imaging departments at the University Hospital of Lille in France.
IGS 730, which enables complex, minimally invasive endovascular and percutaneous procedures on inoperable patients, was developed and produced in France, according to GE. The installation marks the last stage of a 32 million euro ($41 million U.S.) investment by GE Healthcare France.
Providing full patient access, the system features a laser-guided, mobile gantry, and is neither floor nor ceiling-mounted, according to the company. It's intended for oncology (hepatic and bone tumors), neurology (aneurysms and brain tumors), as well as cardiovascular patients (stent appositions), GE said.
