Ion Beam Applications (IBA) has established an international training center in Nuremberg, Germany to provide dosimetry training to healthcare professionals involved in the planning and delivery of radiation therapy.
The IBA International Competence Center opened on 20 July, and will hold dosimetry training courses intended to provide healthcare professionals with essential knowledge and skills necessary to minimize radiation errors and maximize accuracy and efficiency in their daily checks. Topics will include methods for efficient and effective commissioning of linear accelerators and radiation therapy planning systems, verifying complex intensity-modulated radiation therapy and rotational cases in 2D and 3D, and regulatory and quality assurance matters in radiation therapy.
The training center is equipped with cutting-edge, high-performance radiation therapy and dosimetry equipment. Clinical environments will be replicated so course participants can simulate treatment verification and quality assurance systems in realistic, real-world settings, IBA said.
