Agfa HealthCare has signed a four-year contract extension with Cardiff and Vale University Health Board (UHB) that includes an upgrade of its PACS and a complete refresh of all equipment.
UHB, whose nine hospitals provide healthcare services to more than 465,000 residents of Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan, has been an Agfa customer since 2000. Its hospitals annually perform more than 500,000 radiology exams, generating 44 million images.
The hospital enterprise is now using a RadIS RIS and Agfa Impax 6.4 PACS supporting more than 100 imaging modalities. Included in the equipment refresh are 56 diagnostic imaging workstations with Barco Coronis Fusion 6-megapixel display monitors, 30 high-end clinical review units, and 25 dedicated touchscreen theater units.
The upgrade also includes Impax clinical application software within the new PET/CT facility for fusion and registration analysis. The system is also connected to UHB's electronic patient record portal and Burnbank Systems' image exchange portal.
The project began in November 2012 and will be completed by the end of March.
