Bayer merges Medrad with contrast division

German pharmaceutical firm Bayer HealthCare is restructuring its contrast media business in a move that will include integrating its Medrad contrast injector subsidiary with its contrast pharmaceutical business to form a new unit.

Bayer is integrating Medrad with the contrast business from its Bayer HealthCare Pharmaceuticals unit into a new business unit called Radiology and Interventional. Medrad will become a Bayer product brand under the realignment, which was announced at this week's European Congress of Radiology (ECR).

The new business unit will be part of the company's Medical Care Division of Tarrytown, NY, which is led by Alan Main.
