Philips Healthcare has opened a dedicated facility to conduct research on healing environments to accelerate and improve treatment outcomes at its Eindhoven-based research laboratories in the Netherlands.
One of the concepts being studied uses soothing lighting and calming video images and sounds, the company said. It is aimed at reducing the stress levels of patients who are awaiting a PET/CT scan. Other projects include ways to prevent delirium in intensive care units and the adaptive personalization of patient rooms.
