GE Healthcare introduced its Centricity Clinical Archive vendor-neutral archive (VNA) offering at the EHealth Insider (EHI) Live 2012 meeting held last week in Birmingham, U.K.
Centricity Clinical Archive is a suite of products and services aimed at unifying patient images and documents across multiple systems, departments, specialties, and locations, according to the vendor.
GE said that the core of Centricity Clinical Archive is a multisite clinical content repository that allows the consolidation of IT infrastructure to provide archiving and managing of unstructured medical content such as images, reports, and documents. It uses standards such as DICOM and the Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise Cross-Enterprise Document Sharing (IHE-XDS) integration profile.
An enterprise-wide, zero-footprint clinical viewer and IHE-XDS registry provide access to patient clinical records from any time or place, GE said. A master patient index links patient records across network boundaries, while a messaging interface engine combines workflow systems such as HIS and RIS to update an information repository and keep information consistent across systems, according to the company.
IT administrators also have a choice of virtual server deployment to save data center space, disaster recovery by utilizing cloud storage, and standardized configurations, GE said.
Centricity Clinical Archive also includes services such as solution consulting, implementation services, one-time data migration services, and professional project management services.
GE noted that the Southwestern Ontario Diagnostic Imaging Network (SWODIN) is built on Centricity Clinical Archive, along with other Web-enabled components. SWODIN is currently storing 3.2 million exams per year from 62 hospitals using seven different vendors' PACS, the company said.
