Agfa wins long-term U.K. PACS contract

Agfa HealthCare has signed a seven-year contract with South Tees Hospitals National Health Service (NHS) Foundation Trust to update the group's computed radiography (CR) equipment, RIS, cardiovascular information systems (CVIS), and PACS.

South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust includes two hospitals, the James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough and the Friarage Hospital in Northallerton, which together provide healthcare services to approximately 1.5 million people.

The contract will replace the hospitals' existing Agfa CR systems. Its current Agfa RIS and PACS will be replaced with a fully integrated IMPAX RIS 5.7 and IMPAX 6.5 PACS. The IMPAX Cardiology suite for echocardiography and cathlab reporting will be fully integrated with the PACS.

The hospitals have purchased IMPAX Business Intelligence software to optimize the use of clinical, business, and administrative data.

The contract also includes an unspecified number of Barco Coronis Fusion 6 MP DL diagnostic color display monitors and Barco's secure online MediCal QAWeb service to provide 24/7 remote monitoring of all display monitors.
