The Royal College of Radiologists (RCR) has released a new guidance called "AI deployment fundamentals for medical imaging."
The guidance was developed by an expert panel, the college said, and it is targeted to imaging networks, health boards, and NHS trusts. It includes minimum standards for providers to deploy AI in radiology, focusing on the period between an algorithm achieving regulatory approval and its deployment. The minimum standards included the following:
- Build a team to define the scope of the project.
- Identify available AI tools.
- Generate evidence and evaluate the tool.
- Acquire and deploy the technology.
