The European Society of Radiology (ESR) has co-signed a statement with 10 healthcare associations regarding the European Union (EU) Artificial Intelligence Act.
The statement urges EU policy makers toward the following actions as they negotiate the legislation:
- Align with all relevant European laws and concepts.
- Provide more clarity on the Act's definitions.
- Provide a clear data and data governance framework to guide the development of AI.
- Ensure uniform application and implementation of its provisions across member states.
The statement's other signers include the European Coordination Committee of the Radiological, Electromedical, and Healthcare IT Industry (COCIR), Digital Health Society, the European Association of Urology, ECHAlliance, European Federation of Nurses Association, European Hospital Management Association, the European Specialist Nurses Organization, the Federation of European Academies of Medicine, Lung Cancer Europe, and MedTech Europe, the ESR said.
