Image display firm Barco has been granted a U.S. patent for its I-Luminate technology for the detection of fine details in breast images.
Barco first introduced the technology in 2010 with its Mammo Tomosynthesis 5MP display. Since then, it has been incorporated into the company's Coronis 5MP mammography display and its Coronis Uniti, a display that combines multimodality breast images on a single screen.
Compared with standard mammography displays, Barco's Coronis Uniti with I-Luminate increases detection of microcalcifications on mammography by 30%, the company said.
