In February 2013, all of the IMV Publishing sites (AuntMinnie, AuntMinnieEurope, and DrBicuspid) will begin offering new ad formats for our sponsoring partners. Weโ€™re very excited about this for a couple of reasons. First of all, weโ€™ve reduced the total number of ads on the page in order to clean up the experience for our members, and the new ad sizes will make it easier to tell your story in a creative way.

The new Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB)-approved ad sizes are the Super Leaderboard (970w x 90h) and the Half-Page (300s x 600h) that can expand to a 600w x 600h pixel size. The expandability of the Half-Page ad format offers some truly intriguing possibilities for those who want to take advantage of it.

So the question becomes, โ€œWhat can we do with this additional space?โ€

Here are just a few ideas:

  • Display a larger picture to show more detail.
  • Show tweets from your Twitter account.
  • Create a small lead collection form with an incentive to fill it out.
  • Display a polling question.
  • Play a video.
