Sonio launches 'soniopedia' for AI ultrasound training

Femtech medical company Sonio has unveiled Soniopedia, an educational and training tool for prenatal ultrasound.

A probabilistic AI model trained on several fetal medicine databases, Soniopedia simulates real cases, guiding healthcare professionals from initial ultrasound findings to potential genetic implications, according to the firm. The cloud-based platform is designed to simplify access to a curated database that links 4,684 malformations, 1,177 clinical signs, and 479 syndromes, according to the vendor.

Sonio and the Ecole Polytechnique jointly filed a patent following the research doctorate of Rémi Besson, co-founder of Sonio, within the obstetrical department of Prof. Yves Ville at the Necker Hospital (AP-HP), for technology that relies on AI to support clinical expertise.

First shown at the recent Fetal Medicine Foundation (FMF) World Congress in Lisbon, Portugal, Soniopedia can manage in real-time at least 3,700 possible combinations to simulate the correct diagnosis, according to the vendor. The software analyzes several types of data, including signs visible on ultrasound, medical history, risk factors, and genetic information, the company said.
