Dear Women's Imaging Insider,
There's always something happening in the world of women's imaging. Did you hear breast imaging reports generated with automated speech recognition software are eight times more likely to contain major errors than those generated with conventional dictation transcription? Read about the peer-reviewed study here. And please tell us about your own experiences with speech recognition.
An Austrian researcher has found when it comes to breast ultrasound, combining B-mode, Doppler techniques, and elastography can help improve true-positive and true-negative diagnosis results by reducing the operator's influence on the outcome. He said there needs to be new algorithms to help with this.

- At the European Multidisciplinary Cancer Congress (EMCC) in Stockholm we learned combining radiotherapy and chemotherapy reduces the risk of breast cancer recurrence.
- A seemingly perennial story is the whole debate about whether screening mammography is useful or not. We'd love to hear from you in our Forums. You might be having these conversations with each other but we want to hear your opinion too!
- Researchers in a September European Radiology study recommend the criteria for prompting intermediate mammograms should be standardized to help radiologists and patients.
- A new breast cancer gene called CHEK2 may help determine a woman's odds of breast cancer if the disease runs in her family, according to Polish researchers.
