Budapest, Hungary-based Mediso Medical Imaging Systems has unveiled a SPECT/CT scanner at the annual meeting of the European Association of Nuclear Medicine.
The system is called TheraMAX (a combination name for the company's AnyScan Trio SPECT/CT with its MAX/123-15.9 detector) and is designed for theranostic imaging, according to the firm. It includes detectors developed for targeted radionuclide therapies conducted with radioisotopes that release not only alpha and beta particles, but high and ultrahigh energy gamma photons such as lutetium-177, lead-212, iodine-131, and actinium-225.
TheraMax features three detectors, 15.9 mm thick sodium iodide (NaI) crystals, and a high-density sensor arrangement, according to the firm. It can perform low-dose diagnostic scans, ultralow-dose scans for attenuation and scatter correction, and synthetic CT scans with the company's SyCT software. It was first installed at the University Hospital Regensburg in Germany.
