Sectra has launched a new diagnostic IT module for genomics within molecular pathology, developed in collaboration with the University of Pennsylvania Health System in the U.S.
The new module helps clinicians predict how an individual cancer patient may respond to different treatments based on genomic information. It will be integrated with Sectra’s other products for radiology and pathology, which will enhance and speed up cancer diagnostics, Sectra said. The module is provided as a service and is fully integrated with a hospital's medical record system. It is now commercially available in the U.S., with the University of Pennsylvania Health System being the first to implement it.
Despite not being based on images, the IT module for genomic information is part of Sectra’s enterprise imaging portfolio, as it offers facilities a unified strategy for managing imaging while lowering operational costs, according to the firm.
