Isotope technology firm Eckert & Ziegler and the European Association of Nuclear Medicine (EANM) have named five nuclear medicine specialists as winners of the 2016 Eckert & Ziegler Abstract Award at this week's EANM congress in Barcelona.
The competition, which awards 1,000 euro prizes for research in the oncological diagnostics, was decided by a jury of seven EANM members. This year's award winners were:
- Francesco Ceci, Italy: Ga-68 PSMA PET/CT for early restaging prostate cancer. Preliminary results of a prospective trial in patients with biochemical failure after radical therapy and PSA levels < 2 ng/mL
- Francesco Cicone, Italy: Value of F-DOPA PET in the long-term follow-up of radionecrotic brain metastases after radiosurgery: comparison with MRI
- Sandra Heskamp, the Netherlands: SPECT/CT imaging of the PD-1/PD-L1 immune checkpoint pathway in syngeneic murine tumor models
- Egesta Lopci, Italy: Prognostic significance of molecular and imaging biomarkers in primary brain tumors
- Bogdan Mitran, Sweden: Feasibility of in vivo imaging of VEGFR2 expression using high affinity antagonistic biparatopic affibody construct ZVEGFR2-Bp2
The winners were selected from a total of 717 entries, according to Eckert & Ziegler.
