Dear Molecular Imaging Insider,

I thought you'd like to know that we've posted two new articles today in the Molecular Imaging Digital Community.

Firstly, U.K. researchers explain how they have used PET imaging with the Pittsburgh Compound B radiopharmaceutical to show increased beta-amyloid deposits in cortical gray matter and striatum regions following traumatic brain injury. The findings may help characterize the causes of disease progression or recovery from these injuries, identify patients at high risk of accelerated Alzheimer's disease, and evaluate the potential benefits of antiamyloid therapies. Get the story here.

Secondly, the Maverinck casts a fresh eye over the controversial topic of personalized medicine in the wake of the recent briefing held at the European Parliament. His columns are always readable and never dull. Click here to read more.

An important public lecture about molecular imaging's future took place in London on 7 November. It was given by Dr. Richard Fowler, a past warden of the U.K. Royal College of Radiologists and a well-respected senior radiologist. Contributing writer Becky McCall was in the audience, and you can read her report here.

During the 2013 European Association of Nuclear Medicine annual congress, held in Lyon, France, a session called "Molecular & Multimodality Imaging: Hybrid Imaging - Image Processing & Quantitation" proved to be popular and thought-provoking. Some intriguing market data were presented. To learn more, click here.

Hybrid PET/MRI must overcome several challenges before its widespread adoption, including continued questions around MRI-based PET attenuation correction, increased acquisition times, and lack of reimbursement. Three authors believe they have found a novel solution. Click here to find out more.

This is only a small selection of articles that have appeared over recent weeks in your Molecular Imaging Digital Community. The full list appears below this letter.
