Dear Digital X-Ray Insider,
The tricky task of spotting pulmonary nodules on chest radiographs looks set to become easier thanks to the availability of bone suppression computer-aided detection (CAD) software.
Dutch researchers have found that such CAD software can provide a significant boost for diagnosing nodules, especially those of moderate and subtle conspicuity. Their article-in-press has just been posted online by the European Journal of Radiology. Get the story here.
Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen discovered x-rays on 8 November 1895, which explains why the International Day of Radiology takes place annually on this date. Thoracic imaging is the main focus of this year's event, and patient groups will be more closely involved. Click here to read more.
X-ray-guided interventional techniques look set to come under close scrutiny at the upcoming Journées Françaises de Radiologie Diagnostique et Interventionnelle (French Congress of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology) in Paris. The Interventional Village will be open to all delegates from 18 to 20 October, and will pivot on five interactive sessions and a platform of equipment for live testing. To find out more, click here.
