Dear Digital X-Ray Insider,
Welcome to our first Digital X-Ray Insider newsletter of 2012.
When the renowned Addenbrooke's Hospital conducts an overhaul of its imaging work patterns, it's worth taking note. Staff at the Cambridge, U.K., center have made major changes to how they use abdominal radiography in the emergency department. The results to date have been impressive and were presented at the recent RSNA congress in Chicago. Visit our Digital X-Ray Community, or click here.
Chest tomosynthesis was another hot topic at the RSNA meeting, and new research from Sweden was unveiled. Radiologists from Gothenburg have used chest tomosynthesis with a digital radiography (DR) system to cut the number of chest CT exams, leading to decreased radiation dose and better use of CT resources. Get the story here.
Italian researchers also have made progress with chest tomosynthesis. They have used the technique effectively with a DR system to characterize pulmonary lesions, avoiding the need for further diagnostic workup of patients with CT. Click here to read more.
The European Society of Radiology's journal, Insights into Imaging, has published some interesting articles over the past few months, including a cystic fibrosis study conducted by authors from Skäne University Hospital's Center for Medical Imaging and Physiology in Lund, Sweden.
