Radiation knowledge gaps; Europe acts on child abuse; define HL7 ORM for IT success

The global medical imaging community has made a huge effort to curb radiation dose over the past few years, but there still seems to be substantial knowledge gaps when it comes to awareness of dose and cancer risk among radiology staff, particularly radiographers.

The diagnosis of child abuse is problematic because there is no external gold standard, and it can be dangerous to rely on the history given by carers. Responding to this need, the European Society of Pediatric Radiology has adopted the U.K. guidelines for determining the best imaging strategy in suspected cases of nonaccidental injury in children.
