Week in Review: 100 Rules of Radiology | News from ESC 2024 | Paul Dubbins on AI and WFH

Dear AuntMinnieEurope Member,

Rule #83 / Show Yourself. An invisible colleague is an annoying colleague. Beavering away in a quiet corner mustn't be the default. If you can't be found easily, you aren't doing your fair share. Step out of the shadows and pull your weight.

This is one of the many new gems crafted by Dr. Paul McCoubrie, who's been a regular columnist on our site since 2013. This week, he published the eagerly awaited second volume -- containing rules 51-100 -- and it's already attracted a rave review from the ESR's Prof. Adrian Brady.

The European Society of Cardiology (ESC) annual meeting closed on Tuesday. From an imaging perspective, the highlight came on Sunday, when the Scot-Heart team presented a summary of its results from the past decade. We have an exclusive interview with Prof. Michelle Williams.

Another standout presentation from ESC 2024 focused on optical coherence tomography-guided stent implantation in percutaneous coronary intervention. Don't miss our news report on that study too.

It's well known that large parts of Turkey were hit extremely hard by last year's two earthquakes, but what was the impact on radiology? Dr. Mehtap Ilgar and Dr. Nurullah Dağ have shared their experiences of the catastrophic event.

To end on a happier note, many of you will remember Dr. Paul Dubbins' classic ECR video sketch, Grumpy Old Man in Vienna, which is the stuff of legend and never fails to make people laugh. He's now voiced his opinions on AI and working from home.
