It was evident at ECR 2024 that the global medical imaging community is struggling to come to terms with the complexities of implementing AI into daily workflow. There's a growing consensus that radiology AI can benefit patient care, but agreeing on a clear plan of action is still not proving easy and much work still needs to be done.
In a prize-winning poster, a team from Leeds, U.K., spelled out in detail how they've approached AI implementation over the past year or so. The researchers have clearly investigated the subject in depth, and their strategy deserves a close look.
Norwegian authors have also reported new findings in this area. They found that women with at least some knowledge of AI's use in breast imaging are more willing to participate in studies using the technology.
When Prof. Paul Parizel left Europe to build a new career in Australia, Prof. Annemiek Snoeckx took over at Antwerp University Hospital in Belgium. She gave a thought-provoking plenary lecture at ECR about how to avoid burnout.
Another presentation that generated considerable attention in Vienna was made by Prof. Vicky Goh. She spoke openly and honestly about the growing challenges facing journal editors today.
