Dr. Asunción Torregrosa Andrés, president of the Spanish Society of Medical Radiology (SERAM), was an active participant at the recent I Forum of the Medical Alliance Against Climate Change, underlining the society's commitment to addressing climate change.
The General Council of Physicians (CGCOM) and the OMC Training Foundation (FFOMC) organized this first scientific meeting, which also commemorated the International Day Against Climate Change, an initiative that SERAM supports.
In a working group at the meeting, Torregrosa promoted the reduction of energy, hybrid, and chemical product consumption. She also emphasized the importance of treating and recycling waste such as the remnants of radiological contrasts and reducing the environmental impact of ionizing radiation, as well as of optimizing the indications for radiological tests due to the direct impact they have on the environment.
The inauguration was attended by the third vice president of the government and minister for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, Mrs. Teresa Ribera, together with Dr. Tomás, president of the General Council of Doctors of Spain and vice-presidencies of the European Union of Medical Specialists; and Juergen Foecking, deputy director of the European Parliament Office in Madrid.
