Radiographers across England have embarked on a two-day strike that began on 25 July, according to a statement released by the Society of Radiographers (SoR).

"Nobody wants it to come to strike action, but [we don't] have a choice," the SoR noted.

SoR pointed out that it has been in conversation with the U.K. government regarding radiographers' concerns about a lack of hiring -- which translates to longer patient waiting times for imaging -- low pay, and long hours.

"One in 10 radiographic professionals are missing from the workforce ... [and] one million people are on waiting lists," the SoR said. "We desperately need investment in the radiography workforce if we are to stand any chance of reducing waiting lists and increasing public satisfaction with the National Health Service."

"Our members deserve better, our patients deserve better," the society pointed out.
