The U.K. Royal College of Radiologists (RCR) has made amendments to the Part 2B (Oncology) examination as part of the college's quality assurance measures.

The RCR said this will align with the 2021 clinical oncology curriculum as well as meet the General Medical Council (GMC) standards for assessment.

Changes to the exam include improving exam quality and permanent remote delivery of the exam through video conferencing. However, the RCR noted that for candidates, there is no change in the type and level of content in the exam. The exam will assess the same broad skills but across a new format of 12 assessment stations.

The exam holds oncologists in training to a high standard by assessing the oncological skills of candidates needed for safe, effective clinical practice.
