The radiology journals' websites tend to go quiet over the holiday period, but an intriguing breast study published by European Journal of Radiology on 3 January caught our eye. The authors presented MRI features of ultrasound-detected BIRADS-3 lesions and compared the findings from both modalities among this patient group. The need to boost scan capacity is particularly urgent in the U.K., where major workforce shortages persist. To address this issue, a team of researchers devised a strategy to enhance the availability of bone scan procedures for prostate cancer patients.

In other news, investigators from Lund University in Sweden have reported that individual biofluid and imaging biomarkers can predict future cognitive decline in Alzheimer patients.
