Week in Review: Nightmare scenario for intervention | Who's in the running for the EuroMinnies? | Top tech trends at RSNA 2022

Dear AuntMinnieEurope Member,

It's every interventional radiologist's nightmare: an x-ray malfunction causes the machine to break down at a critical moment mid-procedure. The radiologist is suddenly blinded, and the patient dies.

This appears to have happened at Rabin Medical Center in Petah Tikva, Israel, on 7 December, and an investigation is underway to discover the full facts. Thankfully this type of event is exceptionally rare, as two leading European experts explained in this week's top article.

If you've been to the RSNA meeting, you'll know that the exhibition halls are colossal. Imagine several football or rugby pitches crammed with row upon row of glitzy booths displaying every conceivable product and service.

Over the years, our regular business columnist Steve Holloway has spent many long days treading the boards in imaging's theater of dreams that is McCormick Place in late November. He now gives us his impressions and take-home messages from RSNA 2022. Find out more in the CT Community.

The use of artificial intelligence in breast imaging was a central theme at the Chicago congress. Among the European highlights were research findings from a team in Linköping in Sweden, along with results presented by a group in Central Germany.
