On the surface, the decision by a U.K. tribunal to suspend radiologist Dr. Luke Morgan-Rowe for six months due to false overtime claims may seem rather harsh. The dishonesty occurred a decade ago, and Morgan-Rowe has apologized and apparently got his life in order.
But a closer inspection of the facts shows the tribunal had to make a tough judgment call. Morgan-Rowe's bad behavior persisted for several months, and it took a long time before he admitted his actions were wrong. In the end, the tribunal felt it had to send out a message as a deterrent to others.
