The U.K. Royal College of Radiologists (RCR) and the Society of Radiographers (SoR) have released a position statement on patient access to imaging reports.

Starting on 1 November, National Health Service (NHS) patients will have access their radiology reports via an NHS app, and the two organizations cautioned that patients need support to discuss imaging findings with their care providers.

"While it is welcomed that patients will have rapid access to their imaging reports it is vital that resources are put in place to ensure that all patients have had a chance formally to discuss imaging findings with a member of the clinical team before they can see their report online," the RCR and the SoR said in a statement released on 31 October. "This is particularly true for patients with cancer and other urgent findings."
