Week in Review: Morozov on AI implementation | How to justify costs of AI | New German stroke study

Dear AuntMinnieEurope Member,

It's been a whirlwind of a few months for Dr. Sergey Morozov. After voicing opposition to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, he relocated from Moscow to Belgium and switched from clinical practice to industry.

Despite these massive changes, Morozov remains a wise head and a voice of reason when it comes to artificial intelligence (AI). Last weekend, he gave a practical and timely lecture on how to implement AI in hospitals. To get his latest thoughts and advice, go to our news report from the annual congress of the European Society of Medical Imaging Informatics in Valencia, Spain.

Another highlight at the meeting was Prof. Mathias Prokop's talk on paying for AI. He urged radiologists to think more deeply about how they can finance the acquisition of new technology. Find out more in the CT Community.

In other news, the newly published findings of a study conducted at the influential University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf, Germany, suggest that endovascular treatment for patients with ischemic stroke and extensive signs of infarction is associated with better functional outcomes. Don't miss our coverage of the study.

In France, the first pilot studies have started on a novel lung cancer screening examination. The plan is to unveil the new exam at the next France's national radiology meeting, Journées Francophones de Radiologie (JFR 2023).

Finally, we caught up with the president of the Spanish Society of Medical Radiology (SERAM), Prof. Asunción Torregrosa from Valencia. She revealed the SERAM team's goals and priorities for her term of office.
