A consultant radiologist at Royal Preston Hospital is making people aware of a free lung cancer screening program in Blackburn, U.K., according to a story published in the Lancashire Telegraph.

The Targeted Lung Health Check program, which uses CT scans to detect cancer and other diseases sooner, has been open for about a year and has proven its worth. But some are dismissing notifications about the screening, Dr. John Howells, program lead, said in the story.

The program is offered to people between the ages of 55 and 74 who are current or former smokers.
