Week in Review: Kassarjian on imaging of elite athletes | CT scouts enhance MRI safety | How to write a radiology report

Dear AuntMinnieEurope Member,

The European professional tennis season is about to enter its most exciting phase. The finals of the French Open will be fought out this weekend. After that, the Wimbledon Championships start to loom large.

To mark the occasion, we've interviewed Dr. Ara Kassarjian from Madrid, one of the best-known sports imaging experts in the world. In this week's top article, he spoke with us about his work and shared some fascinating clinical images. Find out more in the MRI Community.

Are low-dose CT scout images suitable for MRI safety screening? Can they accurately depict a range of different implants in patients with an unknown medical history? U.K. researchers have addressed these important questions, and they presented their key findings at the recent annual meeting of the International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine.

Also in the CT Community, Spanish scientists led by Prof. Dr. Laura Oleaga, PhD, from Barcelona describe how they've trained an artificial intelligence algorithm to detect brain hemorrhage in acute stroke on noncontrast CT. They found the tool to be far more reliable than human performance.

The do's and don'ts of writing radiology reports were covered comprehensively by international speakers at a webinar organized by the British Institute of Radiology. Our first report on the meeting has already proved popular. Earlier this week, we posted a second article about the topic.

The full impact of the pandemic on breast cancer screening and treatment is only just starting to emerge. Hungarian researchers have released new information on this subject. You can read more in the Women's Imaging Community.
