Week in Review: Belgium mourns Julien Struyven | Morozov moves to corporate world | How best to procure AI

Dear AuntMinnieEurope Member,

"Art is the answer." That was the powerful message at the top of the announcement for the farewell ceremony of Prof. Julien Struyven.

I interviewed Prof. Struyven in the mid-1990s, when he was president of the Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiological Society of Europe. The past two months have been a whirlwind for Dr. Sergey Morozov, PhD. Soon after the invasion of Ukraine, he voiced his opposition to the war, along with thousands of other Russian physicians who signed the same petition. Morozov felt compelled to flee his homeland in late March, but he has now secured a new job. Russia's loss is Belgium's gain, it seems. Get the full story in the Artificial Intelligence Community.

When it comes to AI, Dr. Hugh Harvey is always worth listening to. Many of you will recall his previous columns for AuntMinnieEurope.com. He spoke recently about how to procure AI, and he had some interesting ideas.

Another of our regular columnists, Steve Holloway, has written a compelling article about the fallout from the Affidea deal announced on 19 April. Don't miss his words of wisdom in the MRI Community.

Last but not least, we have a report about how digital breast tomosynthesis combined with synthesized mammography can detect more invasive breast cancers than digital mammography alone. Head over to the Women's Imaging Community for more on this story.
