Week in Review: Who were the winners in EuroMinnies 2022? | Isotope supply crisis seems to be over | Dress code for ultrasound

Dear AuntMinnieEurope Member,

The time when we announce the winners of the EuroMinnies awards is always one of my favorite weeks of the year. The joy of the recipients is so uplifting.

There were a couple of notable surprises among the list of winners. It's hard to believe radiologists from the same European institution could win the Most Influential Radiology Researcher award in consecutive years, but that has happened. Also for the second year running, the Best New Radiology Device award went to a low-field MRI scanner, underlining the strong revival of interest in these systems.

January was a stormy month for the European nuclear medicine industry, and a crisis in isotope supply appeared to be looming large. The situation now seems to be far more stable. Don't miss our news report. Find out more in the Molecular Imaging Community.

When it comes to ultrasound examinations, what type of personal protective equipment should be worn? This isn't an easy question to answer, based on the results of a revealing European-wide survey. Perhaps more specific guidelines are needed here from the major societies.

In case you missed last week's artificial intelligence webinar, we've posted a Q&A interview with one of the speakers, Prof. Dr. Marion Smits, PhD, from the Netherlands. The 60-minute recording can be viewed on-demand free of charge.

Another Dutch article deserves a close look. Researchers from Amsterdam reported that PET imaging of immune cells involved in bone and joint damage in rheumatoid arthritis can predict which patients will respond early to treatment.
