Sectra is proceeding with its PACS installation at Pennine Acute Hospitals National Health Service (NHS) Trust. It forms the first part of its deal to provide PACS services for eight NHS hospital groups in Greater Manchester, U.K.
In October 2020, the Greater Manchester Provider Federation Board signed an enterprise deal with Sectra to implement a region-wide, cloud-based PACS system to host x-rays and CT, ultrasound, and MRI scans, as well as other diagnostic images for all trusts in the region. The vendor reported that the deal is one of the largest imaging initiatives of its kind at the NHS.
Sectra's PACS and accompanying vendor-neutral archive system will allow staff at Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust to remotely view detailed images. The technology also enables surgeons to virtually reconstruct joints before procedures, according to the company.
Sectra plans to roll its PACS out to the remaining seven NHS trusts in the contract throughout 2021.
