The European Coordination Committee of the Radiological, Electromedical, and Healthcare IT Industry (COCIR) has offered preliminary recommendations for improving market access for digital health technologies.
Published on 17 November, the document -- "Market Access Pathways for Digital Health Solutions" -- identifies the challenges and opportunities in evaluating and implementing digital health solutions and makes initial recommendations for both the European Commission and Member States to resolve these issues, according to the COCIR.
The organization noted that this topic was also the subject of a COCIR event held on 16 November on the digitization of healthcare. During that conference, attendees examined how the COVID-19 pandemic revealed the fragility of European public health systems. In addition, there was a consensus that the overall availability of digital health technologies and infrastructure has been found lacking, resulting in unequal access to care and reduced efficiency in responding to the pandemic, according to the COCIR.
