The European Society of Radiology (ESR) EuroSafe Imaging initiative is crafting recommendations to address safety concerns for patients who undergo recurrent imaging exams, according to an editorial published on 15 August in European Radiology.
In the editorial, Prof. Guy Frija of the Georges Pompidou European Hospital in Paris outlines the current state of radiation protection and key areas on which publications and research have focused. He notes that 39 papers have been published in the journal and in Insights into Imaging this year on the topic of radiation protection, describing both technological and software dose reduction developments, and he refers to the EUCLID and MEDIRAD projects as well as the ESR iGuide.
