A cap on visas for skilled non-European Union medical workers is having a negative impact on radiology recruitment in the U.K., according to a report from BBC News.
Staff workers are being refused permission to take up posts in the U.K., causing skills shortages and extending waiting lists for treatment in the National Health Service (NHS), noted the report. Recently, visas were refused for 100 Indian doctors, some of whom are radiologists, recruited for more than 30 NHS hospital groups, the BBC said.
The NHS has said that 1 in 11 doctor positions are vacant across a range of specialties, including radiology, according to the report.
