German healthcare organizations are calling on the federal government to develop a national e-health target to advance the "sluggish digitization" of healthcare in the country.
The associations include BIO Deutschland, Bitkom, Bundesverband Gesundheits-IT, BVMed, Spectaris, Verband der Diagnostica Industrie, the Association of Research-Based Pharmaceutical Companies, and Zentralverband Elektrotechnik- und Elektronikindustrie.
The group calls for the development of an e-health target in a politically moderated process to derive a national e-health strategy and concrete action plan. The goal of digitizing the healthcare system is to ensure the quality of healthcare for the long term, to continuously improve it, and at the same time to keep it financially viable, the group said.
