Royal Philips acquires IT firm Forcare

Royal Philips, the parent company of Philips Healthcare, is looking to expand its offerings with the acquisition of Dutch healthcare IT firm Forcare.

Forcare provides interoperability software based on open standards for hospitals and health information exchanges to share patient information and related data. For Philips, the acquisition is expected to complement its portfolio of clinical informatics products that include IntelliSpace PACS, IntelliSpace Universal Data Manager, and IntelliBridge Enterprise.

Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed. Forcare employs approximately 70 people and has satellite offices in Germany, the U.K., and Canada.
