U.K. issues ultrasound guidelines | Enterprise imaging's slow evolution | Achenbach's quiz from ESC 2017

Dear AuntMinnieEurope Member,

It may seem like a bizarre contradiction, but the latest set of recommendations from the U.K. Royal College of Radiologists (RCR) is not in fact aimed at radiologists. The main objective of its new document is to raise the quality of ultrasound scans by other practitioners.

The RCR's guidelines are always well-crafted, clear, and concise, and they're free to download. No doubt all of you have colleagues who would benefit from reading them, and you can find out more here.

The evolution of enterprise imaging continues to be far from straightforward. In his latest column, market expert Stephen Holloway explores the dynamics of the imaging IT market that are affecting adoption of enterprise imaging, and he explains why the sector appears to be on a slow road to mediocrity for clinical content management capability. When it comes to cardiac imaging, Dr. Stephan Achenbach is a true pioneer and a voice of authority. He devised one of the daily imaging quizzes for this week's annual meeting of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC 2017) in Barcelona, Spain. The next ECR is six months away, but the hot topics already are starting to emerge. What will they be? Dr. Bernd Hamm, president of the European Society of Radiology, addresses this and other questions in a broad-ranging interview. Click here to learn more.

Finally, German researchers have found that orthopedic surgeons can achieve significant improvements to their workflow by using an iPad to access images, consult on cases with colleagues, and communicate imaging findings to patients. Click here for the details.
