Ultrasound technology developer SuperSonic Imagine reported that a sales decline in most of its Asian and European markets led to a second quarter without revenue growth.
For its second quarter (end-June 30), SuperSonic Imagine had revenues of 4.96 million euros, down slightly on a nominal basis and flat on a currency-comparable basis from the 5.02 million euros reported in the second quarter of 2015. Although sales were down in Asia, sales in China increased 19% compared with the second quarter last year. China sales accounted for 29% of total sales, up from 24% a year ago, the company said.
Sales were also down in Europe with the exception of France, which has had a good first half, thanks to the performance of its direct sales network, SuperSonic said. In the U.S., growth was attributed to the success of the company's direct sales team in breast and liver applications.
In a statement, finance director Elisabeth Winter said that SuperSonic Imagine is focusing on its main growth areas both in regions and applications, while also continuing to implement tighter cost controls in response to the mixed growth rates experienced by the company over the first half of the year.
