U.K. releases guidance on CT for acute aortic syndrome

The British Journal of Radiology has published new recommendations by two U.K. societies on how to best use CT to diagnose suspected acute aortic syndrome (AAS).

In an open-access article, the British Society of Cardiovascular Imaging (BSCI) and the British Society of Cardiovascular CT (BSCCT) offer guidance on how to utilize recent advances in CT technology for rapidly and accurately diagnosing AAS, according to the journal. In addition, the paper identifies principles for motion-free imaging of the aorta, particularly emphasizing the use of ECG-gating techniques.

The paper also includes suggestions on how imaging centers can optimize protocols. The full article can be found here.
