Hospital Universitario12 de Octubre in Madrid has received recognition from the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) for its use of electronic medical records (EMRs).
The hospital achieve stage 6 recognition for HIMSS' EMR adoption model (EMRAM), which is designed to guide healthcare providers toward digitization of medical data. The hospital, which has more 1,000 beds, has become the fourth EMRAM stage 6 hospital awarded in the Spanish capital.
During the site inspection, HIMSS staff highlighted the hospital-wide usage of electronic nursing and physician documentation, as well as business continuity and disaster recovery standards.
There are now 16 hospitals across Spain that have achieved HIMSS EMRAM stage 6 recognition.
